Abstract
Fireworms are a plant pest that can cause damage to oil palm leaves, potentially reducing plant productivity. Control is carried out using the fogging method using a combination of materials applied to the infested oil palm plantations. This study used a quantitative descriptive method by observing the level of pest infestation before and after fogging application. Parameters observed included the number of fireworms, the pest mortality rate, and the effectiveness of control after treatment. The results showed that fogging application with a combination of Delta, Spider, water, and diesel fuel was able to suppress the fireworm population in oil palm plantations. The effectiveness of control was indicated by a decrease in the number of fireworms after fogging compared to the pre-treatment condition. Thus, the combination of Delta, Spider, water, and diesel fuel using the fogging method can be an alternative for controlling fireworms in PTPN IV Berangir oil palm plantations, while still paying attention to dosage, application techniques, and environmental conditions to ensure effective and targeted control.
