Abstract

This study examines the implementation of democratic values in the election of the OSIS chairperson at Merbau 1 Public High School. democratic values in student council activities at SMA Negeri 1 Merbau. The research method used is a qualitative research method, this research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Merbau from January 2023 to March 2023, the data sources in this study used primary data sources and secondary data sources. The primary data sources in this study were the deputy headmaster, The number of primary data sources for OSIS, students, and teachers is 67 as respondents, namely students and OSIS, 1 as a key informant, namely the deputy principal of the school and 1 as a resource person, namely a PPKN teacher. The data collection techniques used in this study used the following techniques: 1) Observation 2) Interview 3) Documentation. And data analysis techniques using analysis techniques: 1) Data reduction 2) Data presentation 3) Draw conclusions. The results of research on how democratic values are in the implementation of the election for the OSIS chairperson at Merbau 1 Public High School, namely carried out through 6 stages including 1) registration/administration 2) campaigning/presenting vision and mission 3) debate 4) voting 5) ballot counting 6) certijab (hand over position). How is the implementation of democratic values in OSIS activities at SMA Negeri 1 Merbau, namely by carrying out each activity by 1) decision making through deliberation 2) the results of decisions issued 3) freedom of expression 4) cooperation 5) responsibility 6) communication and openness . The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of democratic values in the implementation of the election for the student council president in Merbau 1 Public High School was carried out democratically, although there were still some students who still had an attitude of apathy when the election for the student council president took place. And the application of democratic values in student council activities at SMA Negeri 1 Merbau, is carried out democratically starting from decision making and implementation of activities, decision making activities are carried out through deliberations, freedom of expression is carried out very well because this is evident from the results of decisions that can be accepted and carried out by all OSIS parties.
