Abstract

Kata Kunci : Smart Stick, Tunanetra, Arduino Uno, Sensor Ultrasonik, DFPlayer Mini ================================================================================================== The purpose of this research is to design and implement a Smart Stick based on Arduino Uno as a navigation aid intended for individuals with visual impairments. People with visual disabilities often face difficulties in detecting obstacles around them, which can pose safety risks during daily activities. To address this issue, a technological assistive device is required. The Smart Stick developed in this study utilizes an ultrasonic sensor to measure the distance to objects in front of the user, then provides warning signals through a buzzer, vibration motor, and audio output using a DFPlayer Mini and a 5V speaker. This research applies the Research and Development (R&D) method, which includes stages such as needs analysis, system design, development process, device implementation, and performance evaluation. Based on testing results, the system successfully delivers varying notifications depending on the distance of the object—the closer the obstacle, the more intense the sound, vibration, and audio alerts. With these capabilities, the device has proven effective in enhancing the independence and safety of visually impaired individuals. The results of this study are also expected to serve as a reference for the development of effective and economical assistive devices for people with disabilities.
