Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of principal's transformational leadership and work motivation on teacher performance at public junior high schools in Barumun District, Padang Lawas Regency. The research employed a quantitative approach with an ex-post facto method. The population consisted of 52 teachers from three schools: SMP Negeri 1 Barumun, SMP Negeri 2 Barumun Satu Atap, and SMP Negeri 3 Barumun. The sampling technique used total sampling, making the entire population the sample. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques included prerequisite tests (normality, heteroscedasticity, multicollinearity), multiple linear regression analysis, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination. The results showed that: (1) principal's transformational leadership had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance with t-count value of 4.999 and significance <0.001; (2) work motivation had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance with t-count value of 8.221 and significance <0.001; (3) simultaneously, principal's transformational leadership and work motivation had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance with F-count value of 150.374 and significance <0.001. The coefficient of determination (Adjusted R Square) value of 0.860 indicated that 86.0% of the variation in teacher performance could be explained by both independent variables, while the remaining 14.0% was influenced by other factors outside the research model. Work motivation had a more dominant influence than transformational leadership on teacher performance. Keywords: Transformational Leadership, Work Motivation, Teacher Performance ================================================================================================= Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah dan motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja guru SMP Negeri di Kecamatan Barumun, Kabupaten Padang Lawas. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan metode ex-post facto. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 52 orang guru dari tiga sekolah yaitu SMP Negeri 1 Barumun, SMP Negeri 2 Barumun Satu Atap, dan SMP Negeri 3 Barumun. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan sampling total sehingga seluruh populasi dijadikan sampel. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner dengan skala Likert yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Teknik analisis data meliputi uji prasyarat (normalitas, heteroskedastisitas, multikolinearitas), analisis regresi linear berganda, uji t, uji F, dan koefisien determinasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja guru dengan nilai t hitung 4,999 dan signifikansi <0,001; (2) motivasi kerja berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja guru dengan nilai t hitung 8,221 dan signifikansi <0,001; (3) secara simultan kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah dan motivasi kerja berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja guru dengan nilai F hitung 150,374 dan signifikansi <0,001. Nilai koefisien determinasi (Adjusted R Square) sebesar 0,860 menunjukkan bahwa 86,0% variasi kinerja guru dapat dijelaskan oleh kedua variabel independen, sedangkan sisanya 14,0% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain di luar model penelitian.
