Abstract

Product layout is a key factor in optimizing sales and customer convenience in minimarkets. This study addresses the suboptimal product placement in local minimarkets, where customers often struggle to locate items. Using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method, five product categories refrigerated products, basic necessities, snacks, personal care, and ready-to-eat (RTE) products were evaluated based on placement cost, risk of damage, turnover, profit margin, and demand stability. The results identify RTE products as the top priority for strategic placement with a preference score of 0.96, followed by snacks (0.91) and personal care (0.90). Conversely, refrigerated products ranked lowest (0.76) due to high maintenance costs and damage risks. These findings provide a data-driven framework for minimarkets to enhance spatial efficiency and sales potential through strategic category prioritization.
