Abstract
Kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) merupakan komoditas perkebunan strategis di Indonesia, namun sistem budidayanya yang intensif pada fase tanaman belum menghasilkan (TBM) sering menurunkan kualitas tanah, khususnya ketersediaan unsur hara nitrogen. Mucuna bracteata banyak digunakan sebagai tanaman penutup tanah (cover crop) di areal TBM, tetapi pertumbuhan awalnya masih memerlukan tambahan nitrogen dari luar berupa pupuk urea. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh aplikasi pupuk urea terhadap pertumbuhan Mucuna bracteata serta menentukan dosis urea yang paling optimal. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Afdeling 2 Kebun Rantauprapat PTPN IV Regional I, Sumatera Utara, selama tiga bulan (Januari-Maret 2026), menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) satu faktor dengan empat taraf perlakuan dosis urea, yaitu M0 (kontrol/tanpa urea), M1 (5 g), M2 (10 g), dan M3 (15 g), masing-masing diulang enam kali sehingga terdapat 24 satuan percobaan. Parameter yang diamati meliputi panjang sulur, diameter batang, dan jumlah daun. Hasil analisis sidik ragam menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pupuk urea berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap ketiga parameter tersebut. Rata-rata tertinggi diperoleh pada perlakuan M3, dengan panjang sulur 239,08 cm, diameter batang 12,84 cm, dan jumlah daun 145,5 helai, sedangkan nilai terendah ditunjukkan oleh perlakuan M0. Semakin tinggi dosis urea yang diberikan hingga 15 g per tanaman, semakin baik pula pertumbuhan vegetatif Mucuna bracteata yang dihasilkan. Hasil penelitian ini merekomendasikan dosis urea 15 g per tanaman sebagai dosis terbaik untuk mendukung pertumbuhan Mucuna bracteata pada kondisi serupa di lapangan. Kata kunci : Mucuna Bracteata, Pupuk Urea, Pertumbuhan Vegetatif, Dosis, RAL ======================================================== Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is a strategic plantation commodity in Indonesia, yet its intensive cultivation system during the immature phase (before yielding) often degrades soil quality, particularly the availability of nitrogen nutrients. Mucuna bracteata is widely used as a cover crop in immature oil palm areas, but its early growth still requires additional nitrogen input in the form of urea fertilizer. This study aimed to determine the effect of urea fertilizer application on the growth of Mucuna bracteata and to identify the most optimal urea dosage. The research was conducted in Afdeling 2, Rantauprapat Estate, PTPN IV Regional I, North Sumatra, over a period of three months (January–March 2026), using a single-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four urea dosage treatments: M0 (control/no urea), M1 (5 g), M2 (10 g), and M3 (15 g), each replicated six times, resulting in 24 experimental units. The parameters observed included tendril length, stem diameter, and leaf number. The analysis of variance showed that urea fertilizer application had a highly significant effect on all three parameters. The highest averages were obtained under the M3 treatment, with a tendril length of 239.08 cm, a stem diameter of 12.84 cm, and 145.5 leaves, while the lowest values were shown by the M0 treatment. The higher the urea dosage applied, up to 15 g per plant, the better the vegetative growth of Mucuna bracteata produced. This study recommends a urea dosage of 15 g per plant as the best dosage to support the growth of Mucuna bracteata under similar field conditions.
