Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis sifat kimia tanah serta menentukan tingkat kesuburan dan faktor pembatas utama pada perkebunan kelapa sawit fase menghasilkan di Sub-DAS Barumun, Kecamatan Kota Pinang, Kabupaten Labuhanbatu Selatan. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei dengan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif. Sampel tanah diambil dari 20 titik pada kedalaman 0–20 cm menggunakan metode purposive random sampling, kemudian dianalisis di laboratorium untuk parameter pH, C-organik, N-total, P-tersedia, K, Ca, Mg, kapasitas tukar kation (KTK), dan kejenuhan basa (KB). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sifat kimia tanah di lokasi penelitian tergolong rendah hingga sedang dengan variasi antar titik pengamatan. Nilai pH tanah berkisar antara 4,1 5,2 (sangat masam hingga masam), C-organik dan N-total berada pada kategori sedang, sedangkan P-tersedia bervariasi dari sangat rendah hingga sedang. Kandungan kalium tergolong sangat rendah, serta kalsium dan magnesium berada pada kategori rendah hingga sedang. Nilai KTK termasuk sedang, namun kejenuhan basa tergolong rendah. Kondisi ini menunjukkan bahwa tanah memiliki kemampuan terbatas dalam menyediakan dan mempertahankan unsur hara bagi tanaman. Faktor pembatas utama kesuburan tanah pada lokasi penelitian adalah reaksi tanah yang masam, rendahnya kandungan kalium, serta rendahnya kejenuhan basa. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya pengelolaan tanah berupa pengapuran, pemupukan berimbang khususnya unsur kalium, serta penambahan bahan organik dan penerapan pengelolaan spesifik lokasi untuk meningkatkan kesuburan tanah dan produktivitas kelapa sawit secara berkelanjutan. Kata kunci: Sifat Kimia Tanah, Kesuburan Tanah, Kelapa Sawit, Ultisol, Sub-DAS Barumun ================================================== This study aims to identify and analyze soil chemical properties, evaluate soil fertility status, and determine the main limiting factors in mature oil palm plantations located in the Barumun Sub-watershed, Kota Pinang District, South Labuhanbatu Regency. The research employed a survey method with a quantitative descriptive approach. Soil samples were collected from 20 sampling points at a depth of 0–20 cm using purposive random sampling. The samples were analyzed for soil pH, organic carbon (C-organic), total nitrogen (N-total), available phosphorus (P-available), exchangeable potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), cation exchange capacity (CEC), and base saturation (BS) The results showed that the soil chemical properties varied across sampling points and were generally classified as low to moderate. Soil pH ranged from 4.1 to 5.2, indicating very acidic to acidic conditions. Organic carbon and total nitrogen were categorized as moderate, while available phosphorus ranged from very low to moderate. Exchangeable potassium was very low, and calcium and magnesium were low to moderate. The cation exchange capacity was moderate, whereas base saturation was low. These conditions indicate limited soil capacity in supplying and retaining essential nutrients for optimal plant growth. The main limiting factors identified were soil acidity, very low potassium content, and low base saturation. Therefore, appropriate soil management practices such as liming, balanced fertilization particularly potassium application, addition of organic matter, and site-specific management are necessary to improve soil fertility and sustain oil palm productivity.
