Abstract

Responsible character education is an important aspect in shaping students' personalities, especially at the senior high school level. This study aims to describe the role of teachers in instilling a responsible character in eleventh-grade students through Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) learning. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The research informants consisted of PPKn teachers as the main informants and grade XI students and school officials as supporting informants. The results of the study indicate that teachers play a strategic role in instilling a responsible character in students through role models, habituation, value reinforcement, and learning management. Students' responsible character is reflected in the ability to admit mistakes, complete assignments on time, have the courage to defend the truth, and carry out duties and obligations earnestly. These findings indicate that PPKn learning functions as an effective means in shaping students' responsible character. This study is expected to contribute to the development of character education and serve as a reference for teachers and schools in optimizing the role of character education in the school environment. Keywords: The Role of Teachers, Character Education, Character Responsibility ============================================================================================= Pendidikan karakter tanggung jawab merupakan aspek penting dalam pembentukan kepribadian peserta didik, khususnya pada jenjang sekolah menengah atas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran guru dalam menerapkan karakter tanggung jawab terhadap siswa kelas XI melalui pembelajaran Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKn). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Informan penelitian terdiri atas guru PPKn sebagai informan utama serta siswa kelas XI dan pihak sekolah sebagai informan pendukung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru berperan strategis dalam menanamkan karakter tanggung jawab siswa melalui keteladanan, pembiasaan, penguatan nilai, dan pengelolaan pembelajaran. Karakter tanggung jawab siswa tercermin dalam kemampuan mengakui kesalahan, menyelesaikan tugas tepat waktu, memiliki keberanian dalam mempertahankan kebenaran, serta melaksanakan tugas dan kewajiban dengan sungguh-sungguh. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran PPKn berfungsi sebagai sarana efektif dalam pembentukan karakter tanggung jawab siswa. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan pendidikan karakter serta menjadi acuan bagi guru dan sekolah dalam mengoptimalkan peran pendidikan karakter di lingkungan sekolah.
