Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran kepala sekolah dalam mensukseskan program literasi budaya di SMPN 1 Rantau Selatan. Literasi budaya dipandang sebagai upaya strategis untuk membentuk pemahaman siswa terhadap keberagaman kearifan lokal dan nasional dalam konteks global. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data primer diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi yang melibatkan kepala sekolah, guru, dan siswa kelas VIII.3, sedangkan data sekunder berasal dari literatur yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepala sekolah berperan penting sebagai pengambil keputusan, motivator, pengawas, dan fasilitator kolaborasi, khususnya bersama guru PPKn dalam implementasi kegiatan literasi budaya. Peran tersebut berkontribusi dalam penguatan pemahaman siswa tentang nilai-nilai kebinekaan, nasionalisme, dan toleransi yang selaras dengan Kurikulum Merdeka dan Profil Pelajar Pancasila, terutama pada dimensi “Berkebinekaan Global”. Dengan demikian, kepemimpinan kepala sekolah menjadi faktor kunci dalam membangun ekosistem literasi budaya yang berkelanjutan di sekolah. Kata Kunci: Peran Kepala Sekolah; Literasi budaya; Nasionalis siswa ================================================================================================= This study aims to analyze the role of the principal in ensuring the success of the cultural literacy program at SMPN 1 Rantau Selatan. Cultural literacy is seen as a strategic effort to shape students' understanding of the diversity of local and national wisdom in a global context. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Primary data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students of grade VIII.3, while secondary data came from relevant literature. The results of the study indicate that the principal plays an important role as a decision maker, motivator, supervisor, and collaborative facilitator, especially with PPKn teachers in the implementation of cultural literacy activities. This role contributes to strengthening students' understanding of the values of diversity, nationalism, and tolerance that are aligned with the Independent Curriculum and the Pancasila Student Profile, especially in the "Global Diversity" dimension. Thus, the principal's leadership is a key factor in building a sustainable cultural literacy ecosystem in schools. Keyword: The Role of the Principal; Cultural Literacy; Student Nationalism
