Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan peran Guru Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKn) dalam menerapkan pendidikan karakter peduli sosial terhadap siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 2 Silangkitang. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 2 Silangkitang, Kecamatan Silangkitang, Kabupaten Labuhanbatu Selatan, Sumatera Utara pada bulan Mei 2026 sampai Juni 2026. Sumber data terdiri atas data primer dan data sekunder. Data primer diperoleh melalui wawancara dengan lima informan, yaitu dua guru PPKn sebagai informan kunci dan tiga wali kelas sebagai informan pendukung, sedangkan data sekunder diperoleh dari buku, jurnal, dokumen sekolah, serta sumber lain yang relevan. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Guru PPKn telah berperan dengan baik dalam menerapkan pendidikan karakter peduli sosial melalui pemberian teladan, pembiasaan sikap positif, motivasi, bimbingan, serta berbagai kegiatan yang menumbuhkan kepedulian sosial siswa. Selain itu, guru juga menjalin kerja sama dengan wali kelas dalam membina dan memantau perkembangan sikap sosial siswa. Peran tersebut memberikan dampak positif terhadap sikap saling membantu, bekerja sama, menghargai orang lain, meningkatkan rasa empati, serta tanggung jawab siswa dalam kehidupan sehari-hari di lingkungan sekolah. Kata Kunci: Peran Guru PPKn, Pendidikan Karakter, Karakter Peduli Sosial ================================================================ This study aims to identify and describe the role of Civic Education (PPKn) teachers in implementing social care character education for eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Silangkitang. This research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The study was conducted from May to June 2026 at SMP Negeri 2 Silangkitang, South Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra. The data consisted of primary and secondary sources. Primary data were collected through interviews with five informants, including two Civic Education teachers as key informants and three homeroom teachers, while secondary data were obtained from books, journals, school documents, and other relevant sources. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that Civic Education teachers have played an effective role in implementing social care character education through role modeling, positive habits, motivation, guidance, and various activities that foster students' social awareness. In addition, the teachers collaborated with homeroom teachers to monitor and strengthen students' social character development. These efforts have positively influenced students' willingness to help others, cooperate, respect others, and develop empathy and responsibility in their daily school life.
