Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya tingkat kedisiplinan dan tanggung jawab siswa, khususnya pada siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Silangkitang. Hal ini ditandai dengan masih adanya pelanggaran tata tertib, seperti keterlambatan, kurangnya partisipasi dalam pembelajaran, serta rendahnya kesadaran siswa terhadap tanggung jawab. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya melalui pembelajaran PPKn untuk menanamkan karakter disiplin sebagai dasar pembentukan karakter tanggung jawab. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas karakter disiplin dalam pembentukan karakter tanggung jawab siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif. Sumber data terdiri dari guru PPKn, wali kelas, dan siswa kelas VII yang berjumlah 90 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan karakter disiplin melalui pembelajaran PPKn cukup efektif dalam membentuk karakter tanggung jawab siswa. Hal ini terlihat dari meningkatnya kepatuhan siswa terhadap aturan, keaktifan dalam pembelajaran, serta tanggung jawab dalam menyelesaikan tugas. Meskipun demikian, masih terdapat kendala berupa kurangnya konsistensi penerapan disiplin dan keterbatasan sarana pendukung. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa karakter disiplin berperan penting dan cukup efektif dalam membentuk karakter tanggung jawab siswa melalui pembelajaran PPKn. Kata kunci: Karakter Disiplin, Tanggung Jawab, Ppkn, Siswa SMP ================================================================================================ This research is motivated by the low level of student discipline and responsibility, particularly among grade VII students of SMP Negeri 2 Silangkitang. This is characterized by persistent violations of rules, such as tardiness, lack of participation in learning, and low student awareness of responsibility. Therefore, efforts are needed through PPKn learning to instill discipline as a foundation for building a responsible character. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of discipline in building students' responsibility. This study used a qualitative, descriptive approach. Data sources consisted of PPKn teachers, homeroom teachers, and 90 grade VII students. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the application of discipline through Civics (PPKn) learning is quite effective in developing students' sense of responsibility. This is evident in increased student compliance with rules, active participation in learning, and responsibility in completing assignments. However, challenges remain, including a lack of consistent discipline implementation and limited supporting resources. Therefore, it can be concluded that discipline plays a significant and effective role in developing students' sense of responsibility through Civics (PPKn) learning.
