Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran kepala sekolah sebagai supervisor dalam penerapan Kurikulum Merdeka di SMK Negeri 3 Rantau Utara Kabupaten Labuhanbatu. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dan dilaksanakan pada Januari 2026 s.d Februari 2026. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMK Negeri 3 Rantau Utara Jl. W.R Supatman No.1-B Rantauprapat. Teknik pengumpulan data ini meliputi observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Sumber data primer penelitian ini terdiri atas kepala sekolah sebagai informan kunci, wakil kepala sekolah bidang kurikulum dan sarana prasarana sebagai narasumber, serta tiga guru produktif sebagai responden. Data sekunder diperoleh dari dokumen resmi sekolah, buku, jurnal, dan sumber tertulis lainnya yang relevan sebagai pendukung penelitian. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini yaitu pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa supervisi kepala sekolah telah dilaksanakan secara sistematis melalui empat aspek utama, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, teknik, dan tindak lanjut. Pada tahap perencanaan, supervisi disusun berdasarkan analisis kebutuhan guru dan dilakukan secara kolaboratif. Pelaksanaan supervisi dilakukan melalui observasi kelas dengan pendekatan klinis serta pemberian umpan balik yang konstruktif. Teknik supervisi yang digunakan bersifat variatif, meliputi teknik individual dan kelompok dengan pendekatan kolaboratif dan coaching. Tindak lanjut supervisi dilakukan secara berkelanjutan melalui pendampingan, pelatihan, dan evaluasi untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peran kepala sekolah sebagai supervisor telah berjalan dengan baik dan berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran dalam penerapan Kurikulum Merdeka. Namun, masih terdapat beberapa kendala, seperti keterbatasan waktu, perbedaan kesiapan guru, serta keterbatasan sarana dan prasarana. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya penguatan berkelanjutan dalam supervisi untuk mendukung optimalisasi penerapan Kurikulum Merdeka. Kata Kunci: Perencanaan, Pelaksanaan, Teknik, Tindak Lanjut Supervisi, Kurikulum Merdeka ================================================================================================ This study aims to determine the role of the principal as a supervisor in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at SMK Negeri 3 Rantau Utara, Labuhanbatu Regency. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach and was conducted from January 2026 to February 2026. This study was conducted at SMK Negeri 3 Rantau Utara, Jl. W.R Supatman No. 1-B Rantauprapat. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The primary data sources of this study consisted of the principal as a key informant, the vice principal for curriculum and infrastructure as a resource person, and three productive teachers as respondents. Secondary data were obtained from official school documents, books, journals, and other relevant written sources to support the research. The data analysis techniques in this study were data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the principal's supervision had been implemented systematically through four main aspects, namely planning, implementation, techniques, and follow-up. At the planning stage, supervision was prepared based on an analysis of teacher needs and was carried out collaboratively. Supervision was carried out through classroom observations with a clinical approach and providing constructive feedback. The supervision techniques used are varied, including individual and group techniques with a collaborative approach and coaching. Supervision follow-up is carried out continuously through mentoring, training, and evaluation to improve teacher competency. The conclusion of this study indicates that the principal's role as supervisor has been effective and contributed to improving the quality of learning in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. However, several obstacles remain, such as time constraints, differences in teacher readiness, and limited facilities and infrastructure. Therefore, ongoing efforts to strengthen supervision are needed to support the optimal implementation of the Independent Curriculum.
