Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan komunikasi siswa melalui strategi debat aktif di SMA Negeri 2 Rantau Utara (Studi kasus siswa kelas XI IPS pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan). Peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Peneliti ini dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 2 Rantau Utara, Jalan Menara No. 4 Rantauprapat, Kecamatan Rantau Utara, Kabupaten Labuhanbatu, Provinsi Sumatera Utara-Indonesia, Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan januari 2024. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer dengan responden peserta didik dan narasumber adalah kepala sekolah, ketua bidang PPKn, guru mata pelajaran PPKn, wali kelas XI IPS-1 dan wali kelas XI IPS-2. Kemudian yang kedua yaitu data sekunder. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan angket. Analisis data meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. komunikasi dalam pembelajaran dapat mempengaruhi nilai kognitif dan afektif seorang peserta didik. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil presentase kemampuan komunikasi siswa kelas XI IPS-1 indikator pertama sebanyak 65,6% mampu dalam mengekspresikan ide atau gagasannya, dalam indikator kedua sebanyak 81,2% mampu dalam mendengarkan secara efektif, dalam indikator ketiga sebanyak 62,5% siswa mampu dalam menyampaikan informasi dan dalam indikator keempat sebanyak 59,3% siswa mampu menggunakan bahasa yang baik. Kemampuan komunikasi siswa kelas XI IPS-2 indikator pertama sebanyak 62,8% siswa mampu menyampaikan ide atau gagasan, dalam indikator kedua sebanyak 71,4% siswa mampu mendengarkan dengan baik, dalam indikator ketiga sebanyak 60% mampu menyampaikan informasi dengan memperhatikan intonasi, dan indikator keempat sebanyak 77,1% siswa mampu menggunakan bahasa yang baik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian strategi debat aktif dapat mendukung kemampuan komunikasi peserta didik yaitu komunikasi lisan, mengeluarkan ide, menyampaikan informasi, mendengarkan dengan efektif dan menggunakan bahasa yang baik. Strategi debat aktif harus diimplementasikan dengan baik, seperti membuat dua kelompok yang terdiri dari lima orang, menentukan tema sesuai dengan materi ajar, sanggahan dan pendidik memberikan stimulus sebelum pembelajaran berlangsung agar memotivasi peserta didik dalam meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi Kata Kunci : Debat, Mengeluarkan ide, Mendengarkan, Menyampaikan Informasi, Bahasa ================================================================================================= This study aims to determine students' communication skills through active debate strategies at SMA Negeri 2 Rantau Utara (Case study of grade XI social studies students in the subjects of Pancasila and Civic Education). Researchers use qualitative research methods with qualitative descriptive research types. This research was carried out at SMA Negeri 2 Rantau Utara, Jalan Menara No. 4 Rantauprapat, Rantau Utara District, Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra Indonesia Province, This research was carried out in January 2024. The data sources used in this study were primary data with student respondents and resource persons were school principals, heads of PPKn subjects, PPKn subject teachers, class XI IPS-1 homeroom teachers and IPS-2 class XI homeroom teachers. And the second is secondary data. The instruments used in this study were observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. Data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. Communication in learning can affect the cognitive and affective value of a learner. This can be seen from the results of the percentage of communication skills of grade XI IPS-1 students in the first indicator as many as 65.6% are able to express their ideas or ideas, in the second indicator as many as 81.2% are able to listen effectively, in the third indicator as many as 62.5% of students are able to convey information and in the fourth indicator as many as 59.3% of students are able to use good language. Communication skills of grade XI IPS-2 students The first indicator as many as 62.8% of students are able to convey ideas or ideas, in the second indicator as many as 71.4% of students are able to listen well, in the third indicator as many as 60% are able to convey information by paying attention to intonation, and the fourth indicator as many as 77.1% of students are able to use good language. Based on the results of research, active debate strategies can support students' communication skills, namely oral communication, issuing ideas, conveying information, listening effectively and using good language. Active debate strategies must be implemented properly, such as making two groups of five people, determining themes according to teaching materials, refutations and educators providing stimulus before learning takes place in order to motivate students to improve communication skills Keywords: debate, idea, listening, conveying information, language
