Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis minat belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) di kelas VIII MTs Negeri 3 Labuhanbatu. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, data dikumpulkan melalui angket, observasi, dan wawancara dengan subjek siswa kelas VIII C dan VIII D. Hasil angket menunjukkan minat belajar berada pada kategori tinggi dengan rata-rata skor 72, sejalan dengan observasi yang memperlihatkan antusiasme siswa dalam mengikuti pembelajaran. Faktor yang memengaruhi minat belajar meliputi peran guru, metode dan media pembelajaran, motivasi siswa, lingkungan sekolah, dukungan keluarga, serta kondisi fisik dan psikologis. Kendala yang ditemukan antara lain keterbatasan sarana pembelajaran dan waktu pelajaran yang berada pada jam terakhir, yang memengaruhi fokus siswa. Disimpulkan bahwa minat belajar siswa terhadap IPA tergolong tinggi, namun masih perlu ditingkatkan melalui strategi pembelajaran yang menarik, interaktif, dan kontekstual. Kata Kunci: Minat Belajar, IPA, MTs Negeri, Kelas VIII =========================================================== This study aims to analyze students’ learning interest in Science subjects among eighth-grade students at MTs Negeri 3 Labuhanbatu. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and interviews involving students from classes VIII C and VIII D. The questionnaire results indicated that students’ learning interest was generally in the high category, with an average score of 72, which was consistent with observations showing that students were enthusiastic in participating in lessons. Factors influencing learning interest included the teacher’s role, teaching methods and media, student motivation, school environment, family support, and students’ physical and psychological conditions. The main constraints identified were limited learning facilities and lessons scheduled during the last period, which affected students’ focus and concentration. It is concluded that students’ interest in learning Science is relatively high but still needs to be enhanced through more engaging, interactive, and contextual teaching strategies.
